TASK 9: CD Packaging Planning

Today we came up with a draft of our Digipack. We  decided to use studio and location shots also we have decided the colour scheme which is Yellow, Black and White. We used both Ed Sheeran's previous albums to help inspire our Digipack. We have also decided to use the 'X' from multiply. 

We have decided to use Yellow, Black and White for our colour scheme. The yellow circled in red is the shade of yellow we are going to use. We chose this yellow because it matches the yellow of the subway used in the music video.

TASK 8: Research and Planning for CD and Advert (Audience feedback to pitch)

Our group pitched our print product ideas to our class. This was helpful as our class mates are within our target audience. We asked the class that whether we should use location shots or studio shots for the CD packaging and the magazine advert. At first they suggested that studio shots would be better however after explaining our issues with organizing  photo shot the class including our teachers states that maybe it would mot be so unconventional to use location shots for the CD packaging as it is common for our genre. Overall the class generally liked the ideas; they particularly liked that we have decided to have a consistent colour scheme.

I have collected several pictures of album covers and adverts. This includes Ed Sheeran's first album and other artists that are similar to Ed sheeran such as Olly Murs and the Script.

Kellyan added transitions to the end of the video. also she added fades and cross cuts to some scenes.

TASK 6: Filming, Day 2

Due to heavy rain and cancellations, our teachers extended the deadline for the filming of our video. This was our last day of filming. We started by filming on different streets to show his journey to the main location which is the memorial bench. We then filmed in a tunnel near the park, then in the park and the memorial bench. This session was useful as we finally finished filming.

Audience feedback to rough cut of the music video.

We pitched our rough cut of the music video to the class. This feedback was very useful as it is going to help us to improve the rough cut also to prevent the issues that occurred in the rough cut for the final cut. For example our class stated that the lip syncing was not really good because it wasn't clear that the actors mouth was moving. The lip syncing was improved for the second half of the filming. also that he knows the words properly. The audience also suggested that the subway scene was too long therefore we will cut into it so that there is different shot types. In summary this feedback was useful as we will try and improve the issues.

This is a rough cut of our music video. Our group still have filming to do as our teachers have extended our deadline due to problems we faced while filming the first time.

Natasha did majority of the editing on this day. she added colour corrections to make the subway secenes the same lighting. 

TASK 6: Filming cancelled.

Our group planned to film on the 1st of November 2014 however due to the heavy rain our group decided that we should cancel the session because the rain could have damaged the equipment.

After our first successful day of filming, we decided to film on the 19th of November 2014. This is a plan of we plan to do on the next day of filming, this is so we don't go off track. 

TASK 6: Filming, Day 1

We planned to film on three different dates however due to actors cancelling, this did not happen. Therefore our media teachers decided to extend our deadline for the filming.On Sunday 26th of october 2014 we started filming. We started off filming at an estate building then filmed at a park. Also we filmed on streets on the way to our actual locations. Overall the filming went good as we got a lot of useful footage. However as it was raining and the memory card was full we decided that we would continue filming on the 19th of November 2014.

 

However when we got to the canal it started heavily raining therefore we had to improvise and film a different flashback.

Our group had another team meeting which was really successful as we finally found a lead male actor for our music video. In our team meeting we decided that we would start filming on the 18/10/14. We will film in the streets, local shop and in the canal. We also decided what props each group member needs to buy/bring with them on the day of the filming.

We created a group chat with the male actor. We briefly told him what he had to do for the video then later met up with him and went through the video in detail. Also we told him that he had to know the words of the song.

We created a group chat with the group members only (not the actors), this was so we could discuss the music video frequently also so it would be easier to plan the music video. As you can see in the pictures we discussed the recces also what prop each group member was going to bring.

In this team meeting we discussed what prop we are going to use and who is going to bring the props. We decided that Natasha would bring the flowers and Kellyan would bring the paper bag and the drink; I am going to bring a hairband and a memorial card.

Auditions for Music Video

This is a brief we planned too guide us and the people who auditioned through the audition.

These are the people that turned up for the auditions. This was helpful as we found a female actress however for the main role in our video a male actor is needed. One of the actresses informed us that she has a male friend who could be in our video however this is not definite; we need to see the chemistry between the actors before we can cast him. Overall as no male actors turned up this audition was helpful but not as successful as we hoped.

We created detailed story boards with timings, this will guide us for when we film also so we do not forget anything. Each group member did a story board for each of the flashbacks then we filled in the gaps with the rest of the scenes.
